This field, close to Rotterdam, is one of the first places to be visited again in 2017. Since 1974, there is more industry around, but at the same time it is greener than it once was. Here, the development has gone both ways. At first, I am amazed that the country on the other side of the ditch has become so much higher, until I hear that the agricultural land on which I am standing has been reduced following years of intensive use.
